Steel doors to the wetbar with shelves in the grand living room of a townhouse in West Village of New York

West Village Townhouse

Full renovation of a historic structure in the heart of the West Village into a single-family residence. This home’s unique layout, consisting of dramatic open spaces, private mezzanines, cozy nooks, and surprise moments, is masterfully crafted into a welcoming family home.  The new curtain wall replaced what was a solid wall, tucked behind the restored brick façade, to allow ample streetside light to penetrate the front of the home.  A new elegantly detailed ribbon staircase connects the foyer to the now light filled living room which opens to a stunning, one-of-kind atrium.  The extraordinary open-air atrium with a retractable glass roof is surrounded by a lush garden for a full outdoor experience, and it features a glass floor that delivers diffuse light to the kitchen and family room below.  Earthy tones, natural light and vegetation with views through historic architectural details make the interior of the home feel at once welcome and removed from its urban setting in a perfectly comfortable way.
